The bonding between cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Neeraj Pandey’s ‘M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story’ actor Sushant Singh Rajput has carried beyond the success of the film.

The cricketer took Sushant to the house where the Indian captain celebrated the World Cup final win over Sri Lanka in 2011.

The movie has raked in sensational collections at the box office in its first weekend, crossing the Rs 50 crore-mark within three days of release and earning a total of Rs 66 crore by Monday.

Meanwhile, Sushant Singh Rajput’s family is yet to watch the film, and they will visit a cinema hall this week. Rajput who plays Dhoni in the film so far has stopped them from watching the film. “It’s true I’ve stopped my family from watching the film. I’ll go to Delhi this week and watch it with them. They are very annoyed because everyone is talking to them about ‘Dhoni’ and they are yet to see it,” laughs Sushant.

Sushant’s sister Mitu Singh was a national-level cricketer before she got married and opted for domesticity and motherhood.

The actor is ecstatic about the unstoppable success of Neeraj Pandey’s directorial. But he is loath to take credit for the film’s success.

“Oh,it’s because of Dhoni’s popularity and director Neeraj Pandey’s magic touch. When emotions resonate, it’s an incredible feeling. It is the best reward for an actor, much more than any box office numbers,” he said.

The Dhoni biopic which features the cricketer’s struggle from being no one to a big star in the sporting world, also sheds light on his love life.

Sushant has romanced two heroines in the movie – Disha Patani, who played the role of Dhoni’s first girlfriend and Kiana Advani, who portrays his wife Sakshi.

‘M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story’ has garnered positive reviews from the critics, along with word-of-mouth publicity from the audience owing to a brilliant script and powerful performances.
