2nd Test: England announce unchanged playing XI for Kandy, Bairstow misses out

Ben Foakes will continue with the gloves in the 2nd Test as there seems to be no space for Jonny Bairstow after the former notched his maiden ton on his debut.

England are playing with the same playing XI which helped the visitors rout Sri Lanka by 211 runs, giving their legend Rangana Herath a loss on his retirement. However, a few changes itself has been made in the playing XI as all-rounder Ben Stokes will bat at No.3, which means that spinner Moeen Ali will come in at No.6 for the 2nd Test against Sri Lanka in Kandy.

Jos Buttler was the backup No.3 in the event that England fielded first and Moeen bowling plenty of overs.

Stokes at No.3 will require him to pump in plenty of runs and the move for the all-rounder means that he will have batted in every position from 3 to 11.

Ben Foakes will continue with the gloves in the 2nd Test as there seems to be no space for Jonny Bairstow after the former notched his maiden ton on his debut.

Bairstow, who is England's No.1 Test wicket-keeper, was seen sprinting in the net sessions. He had suffered an ankle injury but now and has been declared fully fit and available for selection, but the England management decided to rest him.

England for 2nd Test: Burns, Keaton Jennings, Ben Stokes, Joe Root, Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali, Ben Foakes, Sam Curran, Rashid, Leach, James Anderson.
