Vajpayee's niece Karuna Shukla joins Congress, says BJP has gone astray

New Delhi: It was reversal time today, as Karuna Shukla, the niece of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the tallest leader of BJP, joined the Congress, after being sidelined in her party for the last five years.

"BJP has declined over the last seven to eight years, and after Atalji's illness a faction has grabbed the BJP", she said.

Lashing out at BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Karuna Shukla said, Modi did not follow the dharma of a pati (husband), did not follow "rajdharma", and he is now speaking of "rashtra dharma" (uplifting the nation).

She said, she has left her "maayka" (parents' home) as the "Atal age" in the party is over. The party has now strayed, she added.
