New Delhi: The names of Mother Teresa, Indira Gandhi, Shah Rukh Khan and Hitler have been expunged from the records of Lok Sabha proceedings for different reasons.

As many as words and expressions uttered in 16th Lok Sabha have been expunged or not recorded for either being “derogatory”, “allegatory”, “unparliamentary”, “not in good taste” or a “reference to a stranger”.

Congress MP Jyotiraditya Scindia's reference to Mother Teresa and National People's Party MP PA Sangma's mention of Shah Rukh Khan were found to be “reference to a stranger” and were not recorded in the House proceedings.

Shiroman Akali Dal (SAD) MP Prem Singh Chandumajra's reference to Indira Gandhi was considered “allegatory remarks against a former Prime Minister” and hence expunged.

The name of German dictator Hitler was mentioned by RJD MP Rajesh Ranjan and was expunged for being “derogatory.”

Other than names of prominent personalities, many words and expressions were also expunged from its proceedings for being unparliamentary.

Here are some of those words:

“Najayaz aulad”, “dhokha” and “dhokhebaaz pradhan mantri” used by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu.

“Nange” and “dalaal” by Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav.

“Jhooth aur fareb dekhein” by Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

“Jhootha” by Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge.

“Chor” by Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.

 “Tai tai phiss”, “jokeron” and “chamchon” by CPM's Mohammad Salim.

“Jhooth” by BJP MP Satyapal Singh.

“Loot ki chhoot” by BJP's Yogi Adityanath.

“Hera pheri” by BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri.

Illiterate by BJD's Pinaki Misra.

“Gali-sadi” by BJP's Rattan Lal Kataria.

“Besharam” by both MoS, Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Mohammad Salim.

Some of the words had already been mentioned in the book of unparliamentary expressions in earlier Lok Sabhas, but there are some new ones which have been enlisted only in the 16th.

Among the new added expressions are are:

“Koyla chor”, used by BJP MP Rattan Lal Kataria

“Loktantra ka gala ghontna padega” and “khamosh raho”, “aapka munh band kiya jayega” by Mohammad Salim

“Main chor nahin hoon, daaku nahin hoon” by BJP MP Bishnu Pada Ray.

Some of the words have been expunged for simply not being in “good taste.”

“It is like cats doing their sexual intercourse” and “that cats are angry but they are doing sexual intercourse” by CPI member C N Jayadevan.

“Kal ko mera gala ghont diya toh poora hi khatm ho jaunga” by Mallikarjun Kharge

Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu's use of the word “RSS” was expunged for being an “insinuatory remarks against an organisation”.

Use of the word “Saamana” by Congress MP Rajiv Satav and BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri was not recorded for being a “reference to a newspaper”.

The Lok Sabha also expunged remarks that were a “reflection on the Chair”. These included Saugata Roy's “please do not behave like a headmistress” and BJP's Virendra Singh's remark, “Jab aap wahan hote hain toh aapki tasveer doosri hoti hai. Aap baat karen nahin dete hain”.
