Jammu: Nationalist Congress Party today said it will field candidates on 15 Assembly constituencies for the Jammu and Kashmir elections and released its manifesto, promising a policy for the youth of the state with focus on employment generation.

“During the past 15 years, the party has made its presence felt in the state. NCP will field candidates on 15 Assembly constituencies,” party state president Thakur Randhir Singh said while releasing the manifesto here.  Singh said the party has decided to field young and energetic candidates so as to deliver on the promises made to the people of the state.

“The party has mainly banked upon fielding young, energetic and motivated people to represent effectively the aspirations and desires of the people of the state” he said.  In the manifesto, the party has promised formation of a policy for the youth, focusing on employment generation and skill endowment for them.

NCP has also promised to focus on urban development by building a network of flyovers, decongesting traffic and creating parking lots.

The party has also talked about ending child labour in the state by framing a policy for children, besides creating equal opportunities for women.

It also promised to reconstitute the accountability commission in the state by giving it more powers.  In the manifesto, the party also talks about development of agriculture, highway, infrastructure, air transport, telecommunication and a comprehensive vision for the youth.  It promises special development of institutions of the state, besides generating more employment opportunities.

The party has also promised to eradicate poverty from the state, besides providing good governance.  “We have included senior citizens, backward and economical weaker section of society and the scheduled castes and schedules tribes in our manifesto as we believe in their development as well,” Singh said.
