Maharashtra: Brisk early voting across 19 LS constituencies

Mumbai: Voters queued up early to vote at thousands of polling booths across 19 Lok Sabha constituencies at the start of polling here Thursday, officials said.A large number of voters, including youth, were seen trooping

The first phase of elections with 62.37 percent turnout was held in Vidarbha region's 10 constituencies April 10, the third and final phase is scheduled for 19 remaining (of the total 48 Lok Sabha seats in the state) constituencies April 24.

The constituencies where polling is being held Thursday are Ahmednagar, Baramati, Beed, Hathkanangle, Hingoli, Kolhapur, Latur (SC), Madha, Maval, Nanded, Osmanabad, Parbhani, Pune, Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, Shirur, Shirdi (SC), Solapur (SC), Sangli and Satara.

Six of these are in the dry plains of Marathwada, 12 in hilly, cool western Maharashtra while one, Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, isin the coastal Konkan region.

The largest constituency in terms of electorate is Maval with a whopping 1,946,127 voters while the smallest is Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg with 1,363,956 voters.
