Know the Congress leaders who are looking for safe seats in LS polls

New Delhi: You may call it fear of anti-incumbency, Modi wave or AAP effect, the reality is that many Congress leaders including some of the big guns are so scared of defeat in the upcoming general elections that they want to change their Lok Sabha constituencies and are looking for safer seats.The popularity of the Congress party, that is in power for the last 10 years, is at an all time low and these leaders have perhaps realized which way the wind is blowing. Some senior leader have decided to move over to Rajya Sabha so that they won't have to face the ignominy of defeat in the LS elections.Let's have a look at the senior Congress leaders who are said to be looking for safer seats or who have decided to opt out of the Lok Sabha contest:1. Raj BabbarThe Congress spokesperson and Firozabad MP wants to change his seat. He wants to contest from Ghaziabad, Noida or Lucknow.2. Beni Prasad VermaThe big-mouthed Congress minister and Gonda MP believes that Kaisarganj is the most suitable and safe seat for him although he wants to contest from Gonda as well.3. Mohammed AzharuddinFormer cricketer and Moradabad MP Mohammed Azharuddin wants to contest from West Bengal. He is no longer interested in Moradabad.4. Manish TewariUnion I&B minister Manish Tiwari who is sitting MP from Ludhiana is no longer confident of victory from the same constituency and has set his eyes on Chandigarh constituency.5. Pradeep Jain AdityaUnion minister Pradeep Jain Aditya who is a sitting MP from Jhansi Lok Sabha constituency in UP, wants to contest from Sagar in MP this time.6. Jaya PradaJaya Prada is all set to join Congress and her candidature from Moradabad replacing Azharuddin is almost certain. She is currently representing Rampur in UP.7. Digvijay SinghRahul Gandhi's key adviser Digvijay Singh initially wanted to contest from his traditional Raghopur constituency in MP, but the party though it better to send him to Rajya Sabha, given the dismal performance of Congress in recently concluded assembly elections.8. Kumari SeljaThe Congress party's Dalit face in Haryana has also changed her mind. Union Minister Kumari Selja ha sbeen sent her to Rajya Sabha instead of asking her to contest Lok Sabha elections. She is considered a political rival of Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
