New Delhi: The Grand Old Party that once prided itself on its slogan - Congress Party Ka Haath, Aam Aadmi Ke Saath, has jettisoned it for good.

No more are the words Aam Aadmi visible in any of the party's slogans for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

So much so, that Nandan Nilekani, the guiding spirit behind Aadhar cards under the auspices of Unique Identification Authority of India, has changed its tagline "aam aadmi ka adhikaar" to "ek Bharat, ek Pehchaan".

The new Congress slogan for the Lok Sabha elections is: "Main Nahin Hum, Har Haath Shakti, Har Haath Tarakki".

So, in effect, the Aam Aadmi is gone, only the party symbol Haath remains.

The Youth Congress which prided itself on its slogan "Aam Aadmi Ka Sipahi" has almost stopped using this tagline.

The reason: the Congress does not want to be seen as filching the Aam Aadmi tag from the original Aam Aadmi Party, thus giving a handle to the latter to beat it with.
