Jayalalithaa says diesel price hike a vestige of "wrong UPA policy"

Chennai: Flaying the diesel price increase, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today said it was a continuation of the previous Congress-led UPA regime's “wrong” policies and appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to rollback the hike besides

Urging the new dispensation at the Centre to rescind the authority delegated to OMCs to fix prices for petro products, she said this would help curb price rise which was due to the “wrong economic policies” of the previous UPA government.

Stating that the diesel price hike would affect all sections of people, particularly the poor and middle class, she appealed to the Prime Minister to intervene and withdraw the price hike.

Diesel prices were hiked yesterday by 50 paise a litre, excluding state levies, the second increase in rates in three weeks.
