New Delhi, Mar 23: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today hoped that the Centre would do the "needful" to pacify the agitating Jats who threatened to cut off the capital from the rest of north India if their demand was not met by March 28.

"The Union Home Minister is aware about it. I hope he will do the needful," Dikshit said.

She was asked about announcements of the agitating Jats that they will cut off the national capital from the rest of north India in the next phase of their stir if their demand was not fulfilled by March 28.

The Jats have been agitating demanding quota in government jobs.

The Centre had earlier held a round of talks with the Jats in a bid to put an end to the agitation which has entered its third week affecting normal life at many places.

The ongoing stir by Jats has badly affected rail traffic in northern India, forcing the Northern Railways to cancel several trains, divert routes of some others. PTI
