New Delhi: A 19-year-old man twice punched AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal here Friday while pretending to garland him as the latter campaigned for the Lok Sabha election.“Saying he wanted to garland Kejriwal, the attacker got on to an open vehicle and punched him twice,” an Aam Aadmi Party leader who witnessed the attack said. AAP activists pounced on the attacker and roughed him up before police took him away. Kejriwal was with his party's South Delhi Lok Sabha candidate Devendra Sherawat and three legislators when the attack took place in south Delhi's Dakshinpuri area. The former Delhi chief minister urged his supporters not to retaliate violently.“Some people are ready to go to any extent to become Prime Minister. Let them do whatever they are doing. Our religion teaches us non-violence. If we raise our hands, this movement will come to an end,” Kejriwal said. "We are fighting for truth and honesty... Let them (our critics) attack us. We should not hit back," he said.The attacker has been identified as Abdul Wahid, a resident of Delhi's Jamia Nagar area, said Deputy Commissioner of Police P. Karunakaran. The police claims accused Abdul Wahid was associated with AAP. He was angry with Kejriwal for not doing much for victims of Muzaffarnagar.He wanted Kejriwal to hold a road show so that plight of riot victims can be highlighted. He said that he had been offered Rs. 25000 to attack him, as per an AAP worker. Case registered against Abdul who attacked on Kejriwal under section 323,341 and also registered cross FIR on unknown AAP supporters under section 323,341,506 and 34. Abdul is 19 years old. He's a class 10th drop out...In less than a month, Kejriwal has been targeted four times, including in Gujarat, Haryana and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. On March 28, he was attacked by a man, who claimed to be a supporter of anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare, during his election rally in Haryana.On 25th March, Kejriwal was in Varanasi in order to declare his candidature to contest from the city. Then too he and his team was attacked. While he was inside the Kashi Vishwanath temple, protestors threw eggs on his car and steadily raised anti-Kejriwal slogans, asking him to leave the Hindu holy city.On the same day as Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh and other leaders on top of a truck began their roadshow through the streets of Varanasi, some people threw black ink at them, splattering their clothes and faces.On 5th March, the glasspane of Kejriwal's vehicle cracked when a stone crashed, but nobody was injured. The incident took place at Kharohi near Bhuj, where Kejriwal was going on a roadshow to "check the development claims of Narendra Modi government in Gujarat".Few days back as Yogendra Yadav was speaking to the media in Delhi, an unidentified man came up from behind and smeared his face with ink quickly and shouted "Bharat Mata ki Jai".
