Chandigarh, Aug 10 : Detractors of Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda have begun demanding his ouster following the Geetika Sharma suicide case in which former minister Gopal Kanda is presently hiding from Delhi police.

Gurgaon MP, Rao Inderjit,  said  it was high time the while party high command took control of the situation.

“We have been stained. As a minister of state, Kanda was working directly under Hooda who holds the charge of the home department.

"How can he (Hooda)  absolve himself from the case where his subordinate minister is trying to dodge the investigating agency? His whereabouts must be in the notice of the state police.

"Why is he not being instructed to cooperate with the law and order agencies,” Rao asked.

Rao Inderjit said the minimum that the state coordination committee can do is take stock of the situation and decide on future course of action.

Former finance minister and Rajya Sabha member Birender Singh, a known Hooda detractor, said : “The state government should have acted immediately after he (Kanda)  ceased to be a minister following his resignation. These incidents will surely cause a serious damage and dent the party in case we fail to take timely action.”

Birender Singh said, he was also worried over the state's  economy after violence at Maruti's Manesar plant. “It (violence) is like hitting the backbone of the economy,” Singh said.

Several senior Haryana Congress  leaders have expressed their unhappiness to central leaders over the fact that “Haryana is always in news for the wrong reasons.”
