Chennai, July 5: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa Thursday termed the ordinance route for the food security bill by the central government as an attempt to put a veil over its corruption and anti-people actions, and said it would fail.

In a statement here, Jayalithaa, condemning the decision to pass an ordinance to bring into force the food security bill, said: "Anything that is done in haste will be a waste and so is the ordinance route for the food security bill."

"The corruption of the central government is etched in the minds of people. The government's attempt to put a veil over its corruption would fail."

She said the Congress is trying to create a protection for itself through this bill and not food security.

"The party can brand those who point out flaws in the bill as anti-food security seems to be the idea," Jayalalithaa said.

When the monsoon session of parliament is slated to begin later this month, bringing an ordinance for the food security bill is undemocratic, she said.

She said the bill with lots of flaws is actually a bill for food insecurity.
