A day after expressing doubts over the Human Rights Commission's probe into the Batla House encounter, AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh on Thursday  said he was nobody to comment on the veracity of the encounter. The Congress leader had yesterday said he was not sure if the Human Rights Commission, which probed the Batla House encounter, heard the aggrieved parties seriously.

"I have not come here to investigate the encounter. I am no one to give my views on the encounter. I cannot say whether the encounter was fake or not," Singh told reporters in Azamgarh.

The Congress leader said his Azamgarh visit was not political but an attempt to know why Muslim youths of the district were losing their way and why the district had earned the sobriquet of a "terror nursery".

He said it was a matter of worry that the educated Muslim youths were feeling they were being denied justice and this is not in the interest of the country. "It is our foremost responsibility to help overcome this feeling among them," Singh said.

Drawing a parallel between the Bajrang Dal, Shiv Sena and Ulema Council, whose members had shown him black flags here yesterday, the Congress leader said they were all working alike and creating chasm in society by harming communal amity. PTI
