Devendra Fadnavis is the newly elected Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Incidentally he is the first person from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to hold this post. His name for the coveted post was unanimously adopted

6. He was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for three consecutive terms, since 1999. He was a member of Nagpur Municipal Corporation for two consecutive terms, during 1992 to 2001. He was elected as the youngest Mayor of Nagpur and second youngest Mayor in India from 1997 to 2001.

Devendra is a seasoned public representative and has been recognised in several forums for his political acumen and skill. This ability has been recognized both nationally and internationally, as he has many awards to his credit including one from the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association for the ‘Best Parliamentarian Award‘.
