Delhi Congress reposes 'full confidence' in Rahul, Sonia

New Delhi: Amid criticism of Rahul Gandhi in the wake of party's electoral debacle, Delhi Congress today thanked him and party president Sonia Gandhi for the “effective” election campaign and expressed “full confidence” in their

The AAP last month had expressed interest in forming the government again. However, Congress had ruled out supporting it again.

The AAP had won 28 seats in its debut Assembly elections in December last year and had later formed the government with outside support from the Congress's eight MLAs.  Of Delhi's 70 seats, BJP won in 31 constituencies and its ally Akali Dal in one.

The Kejriwal-led government resigned after the party's pet project - the Jan Lokpal Bill - could not be passed due to opposition from the BJP and the Congress. 

This, however, apparently did not go down well with the people of Delhi and led to the party's lacklustre performance in the Lok Sabha polls.

BJP's strength in the Assembly had come down to 28 after three of its MLAs—Harsh Vardhan, Pervesh Verma and Ramesh Bidhuri—resigned as MLAs following their election to the Lok Sabha.
