Jammu, Nov 2: Congress has demanded that ally National Conference restrain its general secretary Mustafa Kamal from making statements “detrimental” to the interest of coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a scathing attack on Kamal for issuing “sermons” to it, J&K Congress general secretary and official apokesman Ravinder Sharma said Tuesday night, “Congress demands that the National Conference leadership restrain Dr Kamal from such utterances otherwise party would be left with no option but to seek his dismissal from his party.”

Reacting to the statement of Kamal reported in a section of press today, he said, “Kamal is in the habit of issuing highly objectionable statements which harm the interest of the coalition”.

Kamal yesterday asked Congress to iron out internal differences which, he said, were having a “bad impact” on the functioning of Omar Abdullah-led government.

“I appeal to the Congress to set aside their personal conflicts and differences and for the sake of people's aspirations let Omar Abdullah complete his mission,” NC Additional General Secretary Kamal had said at a party convention in south Kashmir's Kulgam district.

Sharma, who is also MLC, said these were “uncalled for and unwarranted utterances” and asked Kamal to desist from issuing sermons to the Congress party.
