Chennai: MDMK leader Vaiko, whose party recently snapped ties with NDA, today said his party would show black flags to Prime Minister Narendra Modi whenever he visits Tamil Nadu in view of his "support" to Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

"The Prime Minister would be shown black flags whenever he visits the state as MDMK felt Modi had acted against the interest of Tamils by his pro-Rajapaksa stand," he told reporters here apparently referring to Modi wishing the Sri Lankan President a success in Presidential elections.

MDMK had quit NDA in Tamil Nadu on December 8 alleging that the BJP government at the Centre was acting against Tamils and had betrayed the people of the state.

Vaiko also said if AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa supported the cause of total prohibition in the state, for which he had been striving, she would become the next Chief Minister.

He was talking to reporters after appearing before a court here in connection with a sedition case registered in 2008.

The case was registered by the 'Q' Branch Police under 13(1)(b) of Unlawful Activities(Prevention) Act and 124 IPC (sedition) for his speech "What is happening in Eelam (separate home land for Tamils in Sri Lanka)."
