Bangalore, Jun 26 : BJP today cautioned the people against what it termed the UPA government's efforts to “silence” any form of criticism.

Speaking at a rally here, senior BJP leader Murali Manohar Joshi said that in a democracy everyone had a right to speak but the government was trying to clamp down on such protests.

“Why is the government afraid?” he asked, wondering whether the government was afraid of losing power.  “Beware, if you (people) do not oppose corruption, the government will become autocratic, a dictator and unleash suppression,” he said.

Referring to the CAG report on Krishna-Godavari basin, Joshi said the government should place it before Parliament when it opens in the upcoming monsoon session.  Warning that the “corrupt” UPA government should “go away gracefully or it will be thrown out disgracefully,” Joshi said he was determined to expose the wrongdoings of the government.

“I will force them to come clean before the people,” he said.

Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa supported Joshi's views and said the Congress government in the Centre was facing a barrage of corruption charges. PTI
