Continuing his tradition of celebrating Diwali with jawans, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will tomorrow fly to Gauchar in Uttarakhand to celebrate the festival.

Sources said that the Prime Minister will take a special IAF plane tomorrow afternoon.

He will first visit the famous Badrinath shrine before heading for Mana, the last Indian village on the India-China border, where he will celebrate the festival of lights with ITBP jawans.

The Prime Minister has chosen to celebrate Diwali tomorrow because in Uttarakhand, Choti Diwali is celebrated with same zeal and enthusiasm as the main Diwal.

This will be the third successive Diwali for the Prime Minister to celebrate it with troops. In 2014 and 2015, PM Modi had celebrated Diwali with jawans.

Meanwhile, the government has launched a campaign through which people can send Diwali greetings and messages to soldiers guarding the nation's frontiers to boost their morale.

People can send messages under the #Sandesh2Soldiers campaign on the Narendra Modi app through MyGov.in site and also through All India Radio. Doordarshan will also run a programme to share people's emotions for the armed forces.
