New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to address three separate election rallies in Kerala and Tamil Nadu today.

Modi will address a rally at Palakkad in Kerala while in Tamil Nadu, he will address election rallies at Hosur and Chennai. 

PM will be arriving from Coimbatore on a helicopter and will move to the venue close to Palakkad Fort where around a lakh workers are expected to attend his maiden poll rally.

“We are upbeat. Many seats are witnessing a tough three-cornered fight. With the visit of Prime Minister, the poll scene will electrify further,” BJP state chief, Kummanam Rajesekharan told media.

This is the first of five rallies the PM will address in the state that goes to polls on May 16. Many of the arrangements have been done, with security being tightened in Palakkad and surrounding areas.

Around 40 election expenditure observers have been appointed to monitor the payment pattern of candidates in all the 140 constituencies.

There have been auxiliary booths which have been set up  the Election Commission attached to 148 polling booths where the voter population exceeds 1750 electorates.

More than 800 model polling stations will be set up and a total of 250 polling stations fully manned and guarded by women polling officials.

The counting of votes for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala, and also West Bengal and Assam will take place on the  19th of May.
