Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh High Court has issued a notice to Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in connection with the purchase of land at Chharabra near Shimla.

The notice was issued on a petition filed by RTI activist Dev Ashish Bhattacharya, who has been seeking file notings, copies of the sale deeds, relaxations being given, land status of Priyanka under section 118 of HP Tenancy and Land Reforms Act.

The court has given Priyanka 4 weeks time to submit her reply on the matter.

In his plea, Bhattacharya claimed that while the Centre had provided him information about the property relating to Priyanka, Sonia and her elder brother Rahul Gandhi, the Shimla Deputy Commissioner’s office had refused to reveal the information arguing it may compromise Priyanka's security, who is a SPG protectee.

Bhatacharya also filed the additional documents received by him under RTI including information about the residence of the trio.

Earlier, Bhatacharya had approached State Information Commission against the DC’s order. The Commission had then directed authorities to give information under RTI Act. Soon after this, Priyanka filed a writ petition in the High Court opposing orders of the state Information Commission. The court had granted stay on the Commission’s order.
