The Akhilesh Yadav-led Uttar Pradesh government on Monday launched the Samajwadi Smartphone yojana in Lucknow.

Under the scheme, the government will be offering free smartphones to any individual who is above 18 years of age and has passed class 10th with income of less than Rs 6 lakh per year.

During the event in Lucknow, Akhilesh Yadav also launched a website samajwadisp.in where people can register to be enrolled under the scheme. The registration for the free smartphone scheme will continue for a month between October 10 and November 10. The CM will formally launch the registration process for the free Samajwadi Smartphone scheme on October 10.

However, the phones will be distributed next year after the formation of the new government in the state.

Akhilesh, during the event, also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his proposed visit to the state capital tomorrow. Taking a dig at the PM, Akhilesh said, “Ravan effigy would have been burnt in Bihar if the elections were to be held there.”

PM will be in the city tomorrow to witness ‘Ravan dahan’ at iconic Aishbagh Ramilia.

Taking a jibe at BJP’s ‘achhe din’ slogan of 2014 General Elections, Akhilesh said that ‘achhe din’ had not reached Uttar Pradesh in last 2.5 years and added that the Rs 9,000 crore allotted by the Centre to the state were not yet released by Niti Ayog.
