Denouncing the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi today said termed it as a big disappointment saying there was nothing for farmers and youth in it.

"We were expecting fireworks, instead we got a damp squib," Gandhi told reporters outside parliament.

"It was a budget of poetries, there was nothing for farmers or youth in it (Sher o shayari ka budget hai, kisaano ke liye kuch nahi kia, yuvaon ke liye kuch nahi kiya)," he added.

However, he backed the government's move to reduce political funding .

"Any step to clean political funding will be supported by us," Gandhi said.

Dubbing today's budget as rhetorical, Congress spokeperson Manish Tiwari said that it had barely anything to offer on job creation.

“The budget is rhetorical, but in actually creating jobs there is precious little. Railways got a cursory mention,” he said.

"The budget numbers don't seem to add up, as there is huge expansion on Govt spending on scheme," he added.
