AIADMK on Wednesday slammed Tamil superstar Rajinikanth for his remarks that Prime Minister Narendra Modi seemed to be a "strong" man electorally.

The party said people would decide who is "strong" and "weak" during elections as they were the "reviewing authorities."

Senior AIADMK leader and state Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar was responding to Rajinikanth's statement on Tuesday that Prime Minister Modi seemed to be a "strong" man electorally, which was evident from a mega alliance trying to shape up against the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.

"Whether strong or weak, election is the answer for that. People review us....they are the reviewing authorities for every party. They will decide, not you and me," he told reporters.

It is for the people to decide whether the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is a "dangerous" party but if 10 parties are ranged against one, then it shows who is strong, said Superstar Rajinikanth on Tuesday.

The actor refused to give his personal opinion on whether the saffron party is a "dangerous party" as he still not entered politics.

"It is for the people to decide who is dangerous. I will not give my views because I have still not entered politics. It is for the people to decide (about BJP). But the fact that 10 parties are uniting against one party (BJP), then it shows who is strong," he said.

His comment on Tuesday seemed an apparent damage control exercise over remarks made by him on Monday.

Actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth on Monday said if the opposition parties feel BJP is dangerous, then it must be so.

He told reporters that the demonetisation implementation was wrong.

Answering a reporter's query whether the BJP is a dangerous party, Rajinikanth said if the opposition parties are thinking the BJP is a dangerous party, then it must be so.
