After a decent start, Afghanistan lost three wickets for 60-odd runs. But Azmatullah Omarzai and Shahidi stitched a century partnership to rebuild Afghanistan's innings. Both of them also scored half-centuries to propel the team's score on a flat pitch.

Afghanistan looked set to go past the 300-run mark at one stage. But India made a stunning comeback in the last 10 overs with Jasprit Bumrah leading the way. The ace pacer returned with the figures of 4/39 in his 10 overs to restrict Afghanistan to 272 runs.

The chase turned out to be cakewalk for India thanks to their skipper Rohit Sharma who smashed his seventh World Cup century. He stunned Afghanistan scoring 131 runs off just 84 deliveries with 16 fours and five sixes to his name.

Thanks to Rohit Sharma's knock and Virat Kohli's yet another unbeaten half-century in the chase, team India managed to chase down 273 runs in just 35 overs. This is their second win in as many matches while Afghanistan have now lost both their encounters of World Cup 2023.
