Washington Sundar is another replacement named by the selector and looks set to be in the playing XI in place of Jadeja. Sundar is an off-spinner and offers a solid batting option at number six. He had batted superbly in the famous win at Gabba for India and the management will be hoping the same from him again.

Saurabh Kumar is a left-arm spin bowling all-rounder and is another contender to replace Jadeja in XI. He did well in the ongoing series against England Lions showing his prowess with the bat as well. But with Sundar also called up, it is less likely that Saurabh will be preferred for the crucial second Test.
