    Shreeram Lagoo passes away at 92: Some rare photos of the peripheral figure

  • Born on 16 November 1927 in Satara, Maharashtra, Shreeram Lagoo had an incomparable contribution to the development of the theater.  

  • He began his career as in films like Aahat, Pinjra, Mere Saath Chal and Samna which released in the early seventies but made filmmakers realize his talent as a character artist.

  • He won the 1978 Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for the Hindi film Gharaonda. Shreeram's autobiography is titled Lamaan, which means "the carrier of goods".Shriram with wife Deepa.  

  • His first play was called Ithe Oshalala Mrityu which was written by Vasant Kanetkar. He is best remembered for his role in the Marathi play Natasamrat. Some of his most prestigious works include Gidhade, Garbo, and Atmakatha.

  • During the eighties and nineties, Lagoo became a popular face of Hindi and Marathi cinema as he acted in more than five dozen films. Later, he started taking up fewer projects after 1990 but was very active on the theatre front.
