    Bollywood never fails to bring Christmas cheer to the big screen. Over the years, Hindi films have done a phenomenal job at the theaters and ruled the box office. Be it Aamir Khan's Dangal or Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone's Bajirao Mastani or Shah Rukh Khan's Dilwale, Bollywood stars have treated audiences to blockbuster films on the festive occasion. Here's looking at the biggest Bollywood releases on Christmas in the last five years.

    Dangal (2016): The story of the underdog, Dangal chronicles the story of two sisters from a small village who rise to the heights of wrestling. Based on the life of Indian wrestler Geeta Phogat, the film went on to become a massive hit not only in India but overseas too. The Aamir Khan, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh starrer earned over Rs 2000 cr worldwide.

    Tiger Zinda Hai (2017): Tiger Zinda Hai starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif minted over Rs 400 Cr. They are now gearing up for the third film. "Tiger 3" is the third part of the spy thriller franchise starring Salman Khan with Katrina Kaif. The first installment "Ek Tha Tiger" directed by Kabir Khan released in 2012. The second "Tiger Zinda Hai" released in 2017 and was directed by Ali Abbas Zafar.

    Simmba (2018): In "Simmba", Ranveer is seen as a corrupt police officer who has a moral turnaround after a particular incident and becomes the saviour of justice. The film, co-starring Sara Ali Khan, opened on December 28 in 2018. The film also went on to collect over Rs 400 Cr.

    Good Newwz (2019): The 2019 film 'Good Newzz' is a comedy-drama based on the concept of in-vitro fertilisation. Starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh it is about a hilarious swap that happens when the two couples attempt surrogacy. Directed by Raj Mehta, the film revolves around two couples with the same surnames pursuing in-vitro fertilisation and waiting for their upcoming babies. However, trouble ensues when they find that the sperm of each couple has been mixed with the other. The film successfully entered Rs 200 Cr club at the box office.

    83 (2021): after void 2020, the Ranveer Singh starrer film chronicled India’s win under Kapil Dev’s captainship, when the team defeated the mighty West Indies in the final to clinch their first-ever World Cup trophy in 1983. The Bollywood biopic minted close to Rs 200 Cr.

    Cirkus (2022): In the film, Ranveer is known as an electric man and works in a circus. He and Varun Sharma are dealing with doppelganger issues. The film is based on the 1982 released Hindi film 'Angoor', which in turn was a loose adaptation of William Shakespeare's play 'The Comedy of Errors'. Will the film make it to the top grossing films on Christmas? Only time will tell.
