London : Londoners of all ages, backgrounds and abilities will be celebrating the first International Yoga Day on Sunday.

Londoners will be able to take part in yoga and meditation classes for free at places like the South bank and Alexandra Palace, The London Evening Standard reported.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked world leaders to adopt the day to help tackle climate change by encouraging people to change their lifestyles.

Yoga teacher and author Sarah Tucker will be conducting few classes. She visited the Indian High Commission in London earlier this week and met the High Commissioner, Ranjan Mathai, to discuss benefits of yoga.

Tucker from Richmond, started yoga a few years ago and feels it is beneficial for everyone regardless of age and size.

”Yoga deals with the mind rubbish as well as everything else,” Tucker said.

”This philosophy (yoga) is genuinely beneficial for every age and size, people in wheelchairs, the elderly.”
