Johannesburg: Construction work on the 15-million-rand Gurudwara Sahib has finally got the city's approval following an eight-year battle with white South African residents here.

The Gurudwara is to be built in Parkmore suburb on a land donated by an African-born Sikh businessman Harbinder Singh Sethi.

Harbinder Singh Sethi told media on Wednesday  that the construction work  will start with in next two months.

Although the Gurudwara has been run on a temporary basis so far. This will be the first full fledged Gurudwara of the city.

Earlier the Parkmore community objected the construction of the Gurudwara, alleging that Sethi had initially said he would build a house on the land but then used it for temple facilities.
