New Delhi: A segment of ISIS published a 'kill list' revealing the names, photos and addresses of 100 US military members online.
They have urged 'brothers residing in America' to kill them.
"Kill them in their own lands, behead them in their own homes, stab them to death as they walk their streets thinking they are safe," the group urged ISIS supporters in a message, telling them, "You crusaders that fight the Islamic State, we say to you: 'Die in your rage!' "
The list was posted online by the 'Islamic State Hacking Division'. The group claimed it hacked several military servers, databases and emails to obtain the information on the list.
The post read: 'With the huge amount of data we have from various different servers and databases, we have decided to leak 100 addresses so that our brothers in America can deal with you.
The Defense Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are looking into the matter, the New York Times reported.
US officials dismissed the hackers' claim that they had broken into military servers and suggested much of the information on the personnel could have come from public records, open source databases, and social media.
As quoted by Dailymail, a defense official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said: 'I can't confirm the validity of the information, but we are looking into it. We always encourage our personnel to exercise appropriate OPSEC [operations security] and force protection procedures.'
