London: A 160 million years old, 55ft-long diplodocus skeleton was sold £500,000 to an unidentified public institution at an auction in Britain on Wednesday.
The dinosaur was nicknamed as Misty.The skeleton was discovered by the sons of German palaeontologist Raimund Albersdoerfer during a dig in 2009.
It was treated at a fossil laboratory in the Netherlands and was assembled in Britain. The skeleton is made up of 100 bones and is 40 per cent original, with the other 60 per cent copied from previous specimens.
It is one of only six relatively complete diplodocus skeletons.According to the reports the buyer of the skeleton would put the skeleton on public display soon.
