Prime Minister Narendra Modi's strong message to Pakistan and Indian diplomat's ace 'ivy league of terror' remark at UNGA have Pakistani diplomats working overtime to put up an aggressive counter to India's diplomatic offensive.
A report in Pakistan's Dawn quotes an unnamed diplomat as saying that India won't risk a war with Pakistan as it would adversely effect its economy.
"There will be no war. We have no intention of starting one and India also realises that a war at this stage will destroy its economy."
Many diplomats in Islamabad, however, believe that Pakistan's isolation is a myth rather it's India that risks being cornered, reports in the Pakistani media said.
"India is making a wrong example and it will hurt everybody," a senior Pakistani diplomat was quoted as saying by local media. "If India continues on this path, it will end up isolating itself instead of Pakistan."
Notedly, the shares at Karachi Stock exchange nosedived last week after small investors dealing with 'penny stocks' began panic selling - reportedly due to military drills being carried out in the country.
Tension between the two countries are at all time high in light of September 18 terror attack at an army camp in Uri that left 18 Indian soldiers dead.
While Pakistan continues to bank upon its old ally China, its relations with the US have nosedived. The White House has repeatedly urged Pakistan to curb terror networks operating from within its territory.
Last week, two American lawmakers even introduced a legislation in the US Congress aimed at designating Pakistan as a state sponsor of terrorism.
