Lucknow: UP police is revamping its century old image of being slow and lethargic. The state's police department wants to make their presence felt on social media and connect with common masses and to pursue this goal, it will also launch a helpline.

Senior Police officials met Devashish Panda, Principal Secretary (Home) last Saturday to discuss the matter.  Special Secretary (Home) Dr. Saroj Kumar, Ashok Mutha Jain, IG (Public grievance), A.Satish Ganesh IG ( Law and Order) etc. were also present in the meeting.

Devashish Panda made a media plan in order to keep common public informed about the work of police department.

Even today most of the officials of UP Police are oblivion to the development in computers and social networking field. Most of them are unable to understand the FIRs written in English language which makes it even more arduous for them to register FIR in computers.

With the exception of Noida-Greater Noida Police, in most of the areas,  old and worn-out Jeeps are being used and the rifles make them resemble as old guardsman of the king.
