New Delhi, Feb 9: Following is the timeline of the 2001 Parliament House attack leading to the execution of Mohammed Afzal Guru, the main convict, who was hanged to death inside Tihar Jail today  at




Aug 30, 2002: Jaish leader Ghazi Baba, who masterminded the attack, killed in an encounter near Srinagar.

October 2002: Both countries begin demobilizing troops from border and LoC.

Oct 29, 2003; SAR Geelani acquitted in Parliament attack case.

Nov 2003: India, Pakistan agree to ceasefire across LoC.

Aug 4, 2005: Supreme Court confirms death sentence of Afzal guru, commutes Shaukat Hussain guru's death sentence to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment.

Sept 26, 2006: Delhi court orders execution of Afzal Guru.

Oct 3, 2006; Afzal Guru's wife Tabassum Guru files mercy petition with President APJ Abdul Kalam.

Jan 12, 2007; Supreme court dismisses Afzal Guru's appeal saying there is "no merit" in it.

Dec 30, 2010: Shaukat Hussain Guru released from Delhi's Tihar Jail.

February 7, 2013: President Pranab Mukherjee rejects Afzal Guru's clemency plea and sends it to Home Ministry.

February 9, 2013:  Afzal Guru hanged inside Tihar Jail at 8 AM. Curfew clamped in Kashmir valley.
