Surajkund Mela, undoubtedly, is a place of talented craftsmen who come from across the nation to showcase their scared art form.

This year's craft mela too has attracted various artists who have received State Award and National Award for excellence in their respective art fields.

While experiencing the rich heritage, culture, handicraft of India, one cannot afford to miss the metal magician and wool man.

These two artists are worth mentioning not only because of their exceptional success story but because they can inspire many budding artists who want to make it big.

Metal Magicians

Bharati Bhuta and Nalin Bhuta, from Maharashtra, have kept the traditional metal-craft alive with their hard-work and dedication.

Their stall at the Surajkund Mela is wooing the art and jewellery lovers who understand the traditional art form.  

Their metal crafted products are listed on e-commerce website Amazon, Trade India, India Mart under the name ‘Niche Art gallery” for the online buyers.

“It is our first time here, the atmosphere is pretty good but weather is not suiting our health, said Mr. Bhuta who credits his wife for their successful venture.

With their combined experience of over 20 years, the couple is personally involved in the creation of every piece hand crafted by ‘Niche Arts'.

They use classical techniques like enameling, cloisonné, bestially and etching and repose to craft beautiful art pieces, ornaments, wall clocks, metal paintings etc.

Their crafted products have been displayed at Jehangir Art Gallery (Mumbai), Lady Wilson Museum (Dharampur), Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan (London), Mandeer Restaurant (London), Lalit Kala Academy and lot more.

Wool Man

Narottam Ram, who is leading the Himalayan Weavers Handloom and Handicrafts Industrial Co-operative Society Ltd, is working for the welfare of handloom weavers and handicraft artisans in the hill area of North-Western Indian Himalaya.

His stall at Surajkund Mela has beautiful shawls, scarves, stoles, mufflers made from finest quality yak wool, an apt clothing collection for winter season.

“We have been in this trade for the last 17 years and have been conducting business as old as history, said Ram.

 In 2006, then President Pratibha Patil awarded Mr. Narottam with Shilpguru Award. Also, he has recived national award in Weaving 2004 and 2006, while in 2007 he was chosen for Mufflers State Award.
