New Delhi: A large number of Sikhs under the auspices of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee today held a noisy protest outside the Congress headquarters here over Rahul Gandhi's remarks on 1984 riots.

The Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi had admitted during his first TV interview that some Congress leaders might have been involved in the 1984 riots, but he had also added that the then Congress government had tried to control the riots.

The Sikh protesters demanded that the names of these Congress leaders be revealed and they be arrested.

Security was beefed up outside the Congress headquarters in Delhi as the protesters appeared to be in an aggressive mood, with many of them carrying tyres around their necks, which they later burnt.

Police immediately whisked away the protesters in buses kept ready for the purpose.

Yesterday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal  had ordered the formation of a SIT to probe the 1984 riots afresh.
