Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met BJP chief JP Nadda in New Delhi on Tuesday. The agenda of the meeting is not announced. However, there is a huge buzz over his next role. Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated on several occasions that Chouhan is an asset for the party and will be given a big role soon.

After the meeting, Chouhan spoke to reporters and reiterated his pledge to work towards strengthening the country through his party. "Today I met the National President, Honorable Shri @JPNadda ji. As a party worker, I have said several times that the work given by the party is a mission of national service and public service for me," he wrote on 'X'. My constant thought is to serve the nation through my party and to take forward the mission of the respected Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi," Chohan added.

"Dr. Mohan Yadav ji is a capable and hardworking worker, I am confident that he will take Madhya Pradesh to new heights of prosperity; I will continue to support them in every possible way," he stated.

Will rather die than seek something for myself from Delhi: Chouhan

Earlier a few days ago, Chouhan said he would "rather die" than asking something for himself from his party. He would carry out whatever task the Bharatiya Janata Party gives him, said the four-term chief minister who was replaced by Mohan Yadav following the party's resounding victory in last month's assembly elections.

“I wanted to say humbly that I would rather die than go (to Delhi) and ask for something for myself, this is not what I do,” Chouhan told reporters here to a question.

Chouhan has been chief minister of Madhya Pradesh for two stints from November 2005  to December 2018 and March 2020  to December 2023. The BJP lost election under his leadership in 2018 assembly elections in the state but regained power after a split in the ruling Congress in 2020.

“When a person is self-centred, he thinks about himself. But the BJP is a mission, there is some work for every worker. I will do whatever work is assigned to me,” the 64-year-old leader said.
