New Delhi: Indrani Mukerjea, wife of ex-CEO of Star TV Peter Mukerjea, was not the biological daughter of Upendra Kumar Bora claims a report published in The Telegraph.

Family friends and relatives, in an interview published in the newspaper, say that Indrani was close to her mother Durga Rani Bora and contacted her once in a blue moon but never her children.

"Upen was not her biological father. Indrani was never really completely out of touch with her mother Durga. She was close to Durga and would contact her once in a blue moon," a relative said.

Indrani move to Kolkata and married Sanjeev Khanna. But hardly anyone in Guwahati was aware of her marriage.

Her family friends say that it was in 2002 when they came to know about her marriage with Peter Mukerjea. And also, it was only after that she visited Guwahati.

During this period, Durga never encouraged Indrani's children to contact their mother, they said, adding that perhaps Durga knew everything about Indrani and Peter.

In 2002 birth certificates of Indrani's children were registered afresh. This was just after her marriage with the media tycoon. The birth certificate issued in Guwahati in the name of Sheena Bora mentions Upen and Durga as her father and mother, who happens to be Indrani's parents as well.

The high-profile case came to limelight after Indrani's driver, Shyam Rai, claimed before police that Indrani and Khanna had strangulated Sheena in the car after giving her a spiked drink in a hotel room in Mumbai.

On other hand, Indrani's ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna is believed to have told the Mumbai police in Kolkata that he was in the car in which Sheena was allegedly strangulated but claims to have had no role in the crime.

The case dates back to 2012 when Raigad police had found the remains of Indrani's sister Sheena Bora, following which a murder case was registered against unidentified persons.
