The government has issued an order which allows some shops and establishments to reopen amid the coronavirus pandemic. This order includes the opening of shops and services across the country including non-essential services. Will salons and beauty parlours open after this order?

No, salons and barbershops will not be opening as per the new order issued by the government. "Hair salons and barber shops render services. Our order is applicable on shops which deal in sale of items. There is no order to open barber shops and hair salons," said Joint Secretary (Home Affairs) Punya Salila Srivastava.

Earlier reports suggested that barbershops, salons and beauty parlours might be opened from today following new guidelines issued by the government. It has, however, been clarified that barbershops and salons will remain closed.
