New Delhi: A report by Channel 4 News suggests that an Indian executive based in Bengaluru could be behind the most influential IS twitter account @ShamiWitness. Apparently, Channel 4 News has uncovered the identity of the account holder who cheered the ISIS and promoted terrorism.

Channel 4 News reported on Wednesday night that Twitter account Shami Witness, with 17,000 followers,  was created and managed by a Bangalore executive named Mehdi. His tweets were seen over 2 million times making him the “most influential twitter account” for the IS.
The channel said the man's full name has not been revealed as his life would be in danger.

On being contacted by the channel's reporters, the man shut down the account "@ShamiWitness", which was the leading source of information between jihadis, supporters, and recruits, Channel 4 says.

Mehdi expressed that he too wanted to join the ISIS, but he couldn't do so as his family is dependent on him.

"If I had a chance to leave everything and join them I might have.. my family needs me here," the Bangalore executive told Channel 4 News.
