Mumbai Rains: IMD predicts heavy rains in Mumbai in next 24 hours

Heavy rainfall has continued in Mumbai and its surrounding areas for the second consecutive day. The downpour led to waterlogging in several areas including Andheri, Chembur, Malad, Santa Cruz-Mulund link road, Kurla West, lbs road amongst other places. Thane has also received a heavy downpour over the last 36 hours.

Heavy rainfall has continued in Mumbai and its surrounding areas for the second consecutive day. The downpour led to waterlogging in several areas including Andheri, Chembur, Malad, Santa Cruz-Mulund link road, Kurla West, lbs road amongst other places. Thane has also received a heavy downpour over the last 36 hours. 

Thane received the maximum rainfall (213.3mm) on Saturday and there were two reports of walls collapsing in the area. Mumbai's Kandivali also took a heavy pouring (184.3mm)

Mumbai Rain: As it happened

9:21 pm: As per the latest available numbers, Mumbai received 26.72 mm rain. Western Suburbs received 62.84 mm rain while Eastern Suburbs received 76.39 mm of rainfall.

8:05 pm: Maharashtra State Disaster Management Authority has warned that rain and thundershowers are likely to occur in Mumbai, Mumbai suburban, Palghar, Pune, Raigad and Thane during the next 2-4 hours.

5:40 pm: IMD predicts moderate to heavy rains in Mumbai in 24 hours

"In next 24 hours, intermittent moderate to heavy rain expected in Mumbai and suburbs. Possibility of very heavy rainfall at isolated places. Maximum & minimum temperatures likely to be around 27 degree Celsius & 24 degree Celsius, respectively: India Meteorological Dept, Mumbai," said IMD

City: 26.69 mm  

Western Suburbs: 62.78 mm

Eastern Suburbs: 76.29 mm

4:30 pm: BMC has pressed its men and machines into work to clear waterlogged areas in the city and suburbs. Sometime ago, BMC workers cleared a road in Dahisar.

3:40 pm: Water levels start affecting Kurla station. Kurla is station on Central Line in Mumbai that often gets flooded during rains.

02:10 pm: WATCH high tide in Mumbai as heavy rain continues in the maximum city. The IMD earlier in the day predicted high tides of up to 15 feet high.

02:05 pm: Visuals from Mumbai SV Road, Andheri West, Near Andheri market. Heavy rainfall around 11.30 am today.

 

01:45 pm: Heavy rainfall since 6 am continues in Andheri West BMC market. Water-logging in many parts

As Mumbai continues to receive heavy downpour, the Powai Lake in Powai valley has started to overflow. Meanwhile, reports of water-logging from various areas have also surfaced including Andheri, Hindmata, other areas.
