20 injured in cylinder blast in Mumbai’s Lalbaug area, rescue operation underway

At least 20 people were injured in a cylinder blast in Lalbaug area of Mumbai, Maharashtra. Two fire brigades and two jumbo tankers have been pressed into service.

At least 20 people were injured in a cylinder blast in Lalbaug area of Mumbai, Maharashtra. Two fire brigades and two jumbo tankers have been pressed into service, according to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). According to reports, the blaze erupted around 7.20 am on the second floor of Sarabhai building in Ganesh Galli locality.

"It was a 'level-one' (minor) fire. Sixteen people were injured in the blaze.Twelve of them are undergoing treatment at KEM Hospital, while four have been sent to Global Hospital," an official PTI.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar visited King Edward Memorial (KEM) hospital to meet the injured.
