The Run for Unity will be organised across major cities, districts and towns simultaneously.

A large number of schools and youth will participate in the Run for Unity.

 The Run will be followed by a pledge-taking ceremony which will be organised in all the Government offices, public sector undertakings and other public institutions.

 Later in the day, the Prime Minister will give a radio address to the nation.

 Police, Central armed police forces, NCC, NSS, Scouts and Home Guards will march on the streets of major cities and towns.

The Government had announced that the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel – the first Deputy Prime Minister, who unified the whole country post-Independence – would be marked as Rashtriya Ekta Divas (National Unity Day).

The Government has appealed to people to participate enthusiastically in the programmes to pay rich tributes to national hero Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to reaffirm India's strength to face any threat to its integrity and security.

 In Delhi, the Run is being organised from Vijay Chowk to India Gate on Rajpath.
