Meghalya's 11th wine festival begins

Shillong: The 11th Shillong Wine Festival  began here on Saturday. The wine festival  is based exclusively on local horticulture products- Passion fruits, Bananas, Pears, Plums, Pine Apple, Strawberries, Gooseberries and Ginger.As many as 11 home-brewers



This festival draw large number of foreign tourists to Shillong. Looking at the success of the festival yet wine makers of the state expressed a keen desire for the legalization of local brews in the state.



Wine makers said that Meghalaya could become a fast-growing cottage industry which would benefit fruit growers, provide employment and generate revenue by way of increasing tourist trade.
