MHA asks Delhi Police to continue probing IM case

New Delhi: Delhi Police have been asked to continue with its probe in connection with the larger role of banned terror group Indian Mujhaideen and also represent the government during the hearing on bail applications

Delhi Police did not comply with the government order and inspite of repeated reminders from the NIA and the Home Ministry, they completed the investigations and filed a charge sheet in February 2013.

After filing the charge sheet, Delhi Police had asked for taking over the case. “After carefully examining the legal provisions, the NIA responded to the MHA at that juncture that it was not advisable to take over the case since the charge sheet had been filed.”

The Home Ministry had issued an order on March 13 this year asking the Delhi Police to continue with the investigation thereby keeping in abeyance its earlier order in October 2012 of transferring the case to NIA.
