New Delhi: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal appeared to be in a combative mood today.
Speaking to reporters at the AAP national council meet, Kejriwal said, private power distribution companies are resorting to "blackmailing" by threatening to resort to power cuts.
The BSES Yamuna Power Ltd, owned by ADAG Reliance group, has written to Delhi government saying it could lose over 500 MW of supply if generation units like NTPC do not extend credit and give it more time clear its dues.
Kejriwal said, many irregularities have been found in the CAG audit of the private discoms.
"We will not bow down to their threat. There are many other companies who are ready to work as discoms in Delhi, not Tata and Ambanis only", said Kejriwal.
Meanwhile, NTPC warned of snapping power supply to BYPL if payment is not made.
Sources said Delhi government had requested NTPC to extend the time limit for making the payments but the power generating company decided not to do so.
The NTPC told the government that it will snap power supply to the BYPL if the company does not pay the dues by this evening.
The decision by NTPC was conveyed hours after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused BSES discoms of trying to “blackmail” the government by threatening power cuts upto 10 hours a day.
