Indo-Pak judicial commission meets 56 Pak prisoners in Amritsar jail

Amritsar: A joint Indo-Pak judicial commission consisting of two Pakistani and one Indian judge on Saturday met Pakistani prisoners lodged in Amritsar Central Security Jail and interacted with them. They met especially those prisoners, who


The Commission interacted with 56 Pakistani prisoners who were brought to Amritsar jail from Jammu, Haryana and other jails.


"As judges we don't look into their cases with nationality point of view, but we take a humanitarian view", said judge Ajmal.

The commission included former Pakistan judges Mian Mohammad Ajmal and Abdul Qadir Chaudhary and Justice MA Khan (retd) from the Indian side.

Ajmal said they found the overall living conditions in the jail satisfactory. "There are few problems. We have taken up these with the jail authorities," he said.

He said the Pakistan government would reciprocate efforts by the Indian government.

He said issues concerning prisoners of both the countries needed to be taken seriously. He said some prisoners had lost their balance of mind because of prolonged stay in jails.
