In Mendhar, Pakistani firing began at 8 pm, while in Hamirpur, Pak troops began firing from 6 pm.
Bhimber Gali (BG) brigade commander A S Gupta said, Pakistani trops resorted to heavy firing and mortar shelling on Saturday night in Mendhar, Balakote and Hamirpur after which Indian jawans retaliated heavily destroying four Pak posts and silenced their guns.
The Pak troops were resorting to heavy firing at Indian areas having civilian population, injuring two civilians and killing half a dozen cattle.
Directions have been issued to field commanders to give adequate response to Pakistani firing at all the places, the brigade commander said.
